Marta Gaumiga

I'm a self-taught photographer from Latvia. As someone who is constantly confronted with the social and economic problems of the capitalist system and philosophises about them, not always (rarely) finding a positive solution, photography has become for me a kind of tool that brings me closer, if not to the solution, then to the abstraction from the problem. By seizing a particular moment, I take a step back to see a bigger picture, and create space for myself to take on the role of observer rather than initiator. It's like meditation. Observation over judgment.
